New England Fall Foliage Trip Itinerary
Want to travel to New England to see some of the most beautiful fall colors? 🍂
Save this for planning your itinerary ⤵️
🍁 Start your trip in New Hampshire and visit the state from north to south:
◻️ Table Rock in Dixville Notch
◻️ White Mountains (so much to explore here, but here a few things I personally loved)
• Kancamagus Highway, arguably the most beautiful scenic fall drive 🚗
• Conway where you can take the scenic train ride 🚂
• Franconia Notch State Park where you can do the popular Artist’s Bluff sunrise hike and see the stunning reflections at Echo Lake 🌅
• Crawford Notch (lots of hikes in this area, stunning views from the Frankenstein Trestle)
🍁 Next, visit Vermont and check out the following places:
◻️ Smuggler’s Notch
◻️ Stowe
◻️ Cold Hollow Cider Mill
◻️ Ben & Jerry’s factory
◻️ Trapp Family Lodge (the view from here is pretty amazing and after seeing it, head to the von Trapp Brewery for delicious food and drinks 🍻
◻️ Sleepy Hollow in Woodstock
🍁 Finally, make your way through New York for:
◻️ Indian Head Trailhead
◻️ Minnewaska State Park
🍁 A few other helpful tips:
✨ Peak colors happen early! (At least earlier than I expected) Plan for around the first week of October, but be sure to check the ‘Fall Foliage Prediction Map’ on https://smokymountains.com/fall-foliage-map/ to better time your trip and have the best opportunity of catching peak color each year
✨ The weather is unpredictable! We had 2 days of rain, which limited some of the hikes we could do, so I would build a few extra days into your trip in case you face unfortunate weather conditions.
✨ Airbnb and booking.com listings are extremely expensive this time of year, book/plan in advance as room availability is super limited last minute 😱
This was my first time visiting New England and I feel like there is so much more to see and do, what would you add to this list?
