Balinese Melasti Ceremony

• Some frames from last Melasti ✨ Melasti is a purification ceremony celebrated by the Balinese every year. It’s basically about cleansing the body, the soul, as well as the sacred objects of the temple, by taking them to the sea. They also present many offering to the ocean. This ceremony happens a few days before Nyepi, the Balinese Day of Silence, to prepare for the new year with a clean slate. 🌊🙏 Experiencing this ceremony was so beautiful and reminded me why I love Bali so much. The dedication of the community, who must have woken up so early to prepare (this was at sunrise 😵), was really incredible. If your ever in Bali around Nyepi, I would definitely recommend trying to see a Melasti ceremony. Which photo from this set is your favorite? 💬👇
