Wedding Photographer's Vendor Meal Dilemma

There’s a news story going around about a wedding photographer who was paid $250 to photograph a friend’s wedding (having his guest status be revoked) and then when it was time to eat the groom told the photographer that he wasn’t allowed to eat and to keep taking pictures. The photographer “lost his mind”, quit on the spot and deleted the entire days worth of wedding photos before walking out. . I have a lot to say about this topic and I’m sure you do too. FIRST - Do YOU think this was an over reaction on the photographers part? . 10 years ago I was served four pieces of ravioli for a vendor meal; when I dared to mention that I didn’t think it was enough food I was berated saying how dare I offend the chefs knowledge of portion control. Once when I didn’t get fed a meal at all and when I asked the maître d’ about it he said the kitchen was closed and literally brought out breadsticks, the kind that come out of her plastic bag. When the bride came over she was horrified because she had PAID for a vendor meal. I’ve also been fed leftover cocktail hour food that had been sitting out for hours and later made my staff sick. Or my personal favorite, when the band gets to the food before my team can and eats absolutely all of it. You name it, I’ve had it happen. . The funny thing is, when I’ve mentioned things like this in the past in photo groups, I had a large set of photographers come at me saying that I was being unreasonable and I should not expect to be fed at all. I even had a few of them post snarky photos of them eating their packed cooler sandwiches and granola bars. 🙄 . I appreciate being fed at a wedding and it is listed in my contract because it’s not my favorite thing to eat granola bars all day and expect to perform my best. If one of my couples doesn’t want to pay for the vendor meal, I’m OK with that too bc delivery is really easy these days and gets me a meal that’s timed better for how I have to work than when vendor meals are typically served (5 minutes before I have to get up). What I CAN’T stand are rude clients or halls that feed us rotten or not enough food when the couples has paid them to feed us. . What’s your fav vendor meal story?
