Thoughts on First Looks for Weddings?

Do you think couples should do first looks? I personally don’t care either way. Yes, first looks make the day run easier for both the photographer and the couple. The schedules are easier and the couple shakes off any anxiety or nerves before their guests arrive. They also get to spend their cocktail hour enjoying themselves and visiting with friends and family which gets hard during the reception. But ultimately I think it should be their decision and they should not be swayed by anyone whether they want to see each other for the first time walking down the aisle or not. I also think that photographers should feel confident in the speed of their photography skills to get everything done that they need to do during the cocktail hour. And I have to admit, I hate it when I hear couples ask me about first looks and mention that in the past conversations with photographers, they were really pushing first looks. I don’t think our wants and needs should be pushed on our clients in this instance. So tell me below - what are your thoughts on First Looks?
