I am so passionate about this problem as it is so close to home. We are currently in the midst of a complaint about the care i recieved giving birth only last month, so to see this getting so much media coverage is fantastic (and triggering). I have worked in a surgical specialty as a doctor, so understand what should be done post operatively. The post operative care recieved after a C section makes it seem like youve just been in for a body piercing, not a major abdominal operation. I lost half my blood volume during the operation, listened to surgeons saying “they couldnt control the bleeding” - but still, it was like id been in for a hair cut and i was expected to crack on with my premature baby right after. Staff seem oblivious to obvious mental trauma and despite services existing, none were mentioned to me until i made my complaint. I really hope this inquest will allow change to happen. Even if just with the mentality and attitude towards maternity care..
