The Travel Mum

Pursuing Our Dream Life

✨27/05/22 marks the day our dream became a reality 😭🙏🏻 Since our baby was born, we realised we wanted a different path to the one we were on. Dropping him off at nursery at 7am to collect him at 6pm - rush around making dinner, bathing, having him in bed an hour or so later... it wasn’t working. A few nights a week my mum and dad had him (to save on extortionate nursery fees) - so we were seeing our son less than 10 hours in total during the week. We were having quality time together as a couple even less. We decided to visualise our dream life, and work backwards. What steps would a person have had to make to get to that point? And we started grafting - grafting and travelling with every spare hour or day (on cheap budget flights of course!). We got to a point where I could quit my job back in February (although you might see me making guest appearances at my local hospital as a locum when I miss the work banter 😅). We got to the point where Joao could quit his job in April - he handed in his notice back then, and yesterday he worked his last day. Today starts our dream life and honestly I couldn’t be more excited and proud of what we’ve achieved 🙏🏻✈️ Special thanks to @thebackpackingfamily for being a constant inspiration and support - and @thatkat for the best advice and kindest words when I was new to this industry and had absolutely no idea what I was doing ❤️🙏🏻
