Prioritizing Experiences Over Possessions
There was a time in life where I spent a months salary on a hand bag - I drove a car worth more than my annual salary - I would go shopping for a new outfit every time I went out with friends. I’d buy a new wardrobe of clothes for every holiday i went on. And I would work, a LOT. My life centered around it. Work to buy things to try and make me feel better about the fact that I work all of the time. “I work hard. I deserve nice things…”
The sooner you can break free of that mentality, from commercialism and society telling you what success should look like - the sooner you will start to really live.
I promise when you are laid on your death bed, you won’t be thinking about the nice handbags in your wardrobe, or that fancy car parked on your drive way - you’ll be reliving the times that you felt most alive. The risks you took, the adventures you had, the precious time you spent with loved ones.
It’s all just a game, there are 1000 ways you could be living your life - don’t get caught feeling like your current option is the only way. The terrifying run and jump into the unknown is actually the only way to really make significant changes. If you always do, what you’ve always done, then you’ll always be, where you’ve always been.
