Planning a Maldives Vacation on a Budget

And can you go on a budget? The answer is yes! The first thing to take into consideration is when you want to go. The islands stay a toasty 25-30℃ all year round. Peak season is between December and April when the weather is warmer and dryer. Wet season starts in May then changes from all day rain to short heavy downpours from July onwards, a great time to take advantage of the best deals if you don’t mind a bit of rain here and there. Manta Rays and Whale sharks arrive around this time of year so it’s a great time for diving. Next decide where you want to stay. The pricing spectrum ranges from budget hostels up to beach and water bungalows - there is something for every budget. When deciding where you want to stay, take into consideration the distance of the island from Malé where the main international airport is. The cheapest transfer option is via public ferry, then speedboat transfer, with the most expensive option being a sea plane. Finally decide what board basis you require.
