Conflicting Identities: Doctor vs. Traveler

✨I have two versions of myself, the doctor who drives to work in a Range Rover, always stops for a Starbucks on the way, buys expensive handbags at the weekend when there is a rare day off - then there’s the traveller, the free spirit, the hippy who rarely buys new things - simply wants to live amongst nature and experience the worlds beauty. I’ve fluctuated between the two over the last 10 years, always resenting the side of myself that gets consumed by consumerism - but it happens to us all. The promise of stability and having “stuff” keeps us caged in lives we despise. We earn money in the hope that one day, maybe, it will buy us our freedom... Yet freedom has been there all along, we just choose to exchange it for extra hours at work, to earn that extra money, to buy that extra stuff that we don’t really need. 📸 This view is on the Greek island of Corfu, if you Google Rovinia beach and try to get there - on the way down you pass “Liapades View point”.
