The Porch Boise
A young woman stands in the foreground of what appears to be a conference or meeting room. She is wearing a dark green t-shirt and has long dark hair. She is smiling and wearing glasses, holding a blue folder in one hand while her other hand is extended in a gesture. Around her neck is a lanyard, suggesting she might be at a conference or event. In the background, other people can be seen, including someone in a blue suit and others in casual attire. The setting appears professional, possibly an educational or business environment. The woman's expression is friendly and engaged, giving the impression she might be speaking or presenting to others.

Whitney's Journey to Faith and Community

I grew up in a family where my grandma was really the only one who went to church. She always brought me and I loved it. I loved hearing about the Lord and being around others who believed the same as me. My mom and my dad split up when I was 3 and so I rarely saw my dad. I have two brothers and a sister who I have encouraged to come to church and youth groups with me. Growing up, things would happen to me and my family that would kind of shake me up in a way. All these huge moments in my life had caused me to ask God why he would do this to me and my family. I often found myself saying “Lord, I know you’re out there and I know you’re watching what’s going on because I know you’re in control but why? Why would you bring this hurt into our lives.” Over the years I went on some missions experiences that changed me for the better and I experienced a life altering moment that happened at Passion 2020 in Atlanta, GA where I felt God was speaking past the thousands of other people there and directly to me. I moved to Idaho in June 2019. One day my cousin who I hadn’t talked to in a while called me and asked me to go to church with him. He brought me to a Sunday service at Rockharbor and introduced me to the leaders of The Porch. I have only been going to the Porch and small groups for a few weeks now but the people I have met and the connections I’ve made have changed me already. I am so excited to build more relationships and learn more about the Lord and what he’s doing in my life. I appreciate everyone in the Porch who has been there for me so far and helped me move forward. -Whitney Beck We all have a story to tell, and we all need people to share life with.
