The Blumes
The image depicts three young children sitting on an old wooden bench in a dimly lit, rustic interior space. The room appears to be part of an old schoolhouse, with wooden floors and walls adorned with beams and timbers. Four large windows can be seen behind the children, filtering in a soft, diffused light. The child in the center, a young girl with long dark hair, has her mouth open in an exaggerated expression, as if singing or shouting with enthusiasm. To her left is another girl with short hair, smiling and raising her arms in a lively manner. On the right side is a boy with a serious expression, his arms resting on the bench. The scene conveys a sense of youthful energy and playfulness within the historical setting of the restored schoolhouse.

Kids Explore Restored 1912 Schoolhouse

Finally got to tour inside the restored Oconee County Central School House, originally built for grade schoolers in 1912. . I get my love of history (and storytelling) from my dad, and was glad my kiddos willingly stepped away from "Touch-A-Truck Day" at the park (see now in #mystory) to let me share this fascinating place with them... . They sang and danced on the stage of the upstairs auditorium, then sat in the original theater style seats for this #iPhoneonly portrait. . We looked closely at a portrait of the school's first class of youngsters, imagining how they grew and what they did before they were gone. The beautiful wood, with its patina and storied texture, reminded me of our studio -- parts of which we built from the reclaimed wood of another old schoolhouse, to reflect our passion for preserving histories in our work as photographers. . Happy to see this structure still standing and helping us all time travel a bit today.
