Couple's Joy in the Woods

It's Friday! And we're so pleased to meet you. :) My beautiful bride and I are "the Blumes." Actually, as artists and speakers in the photo industry, we'll meet many of you in-person next week at @rfwppi in Las Vegas! (Anyone here gonna be in our classes? Speak up! Its the USA's biggest photo show and we're not Vegas "types," so we need friendly faces to look forward to!)⠀ .⠀ To be honest, I wasn't happy before taking this self portrait. We had to update our headshots for promos, but I've been underwater with the conference prep and personal life (we have 3 kiddos too, been putting in long hours for a non-profit lately, and hosting an international student recently).⠀ .⠀ Life is never easy. But that's not what we aim for. We desire PURPOSE! And, yes, "peace" is an important part of that to us -- time with family and each other during this short, precious life. We don't want to become workaholics, all too easy as young entrepreneurs.⠀ .⠀ But Eileen was so excited, coming home from a rare hair/makeup appointment to surprise me. So I set aside my work and (I confess, with a bit of a scowl and a huff) set up the tripod outside our studio.⠀ .⠀ She does something to me. The moment I nestled in beside my girl, the stress melted. The joy came. That smile is not feigned. She is God's greatest blessing to me, my spirit's companion, the mother of our children, the love of my life.
