Birthday Poem for Phillip
A Birthday Poem for Phillip

The day we met in Japan, you were just a baby...
At least that’s what I thought, then I realized maybe
there’s more to this youngin’ than meets the eye.
He seems different from others—I need to find out why!
It turns out you weren’t that young, after all.
We chatted for months before you were brave enough to call.
We had lots in common—almost too good to be true!
Who knew I’d have to travel across the world to find you?
Unwavering in your faith, you have a servant heart—
which was evident even from the very start.
I found myself falling more and more in love,
and was blissfully experiencing what only fairytales speak of.
Long distance wasn’t easy, and you could not wait.
So, after six months we got engaged on our first date!
Eleven years and three kids later we’re here—
to celebrate your birthday and bring you good cheer.
You’re another year older—thirty-six to be exact.
And it’s good to know your humor is still in tact. :-)
You’re the best husband and father a girl could ask for.
Life with you is an adventure—I can’t wait to see what else is in store!
