Birthday Love Letter to My Wife
In my life, I’ve loved you more.
Most mornings, Eileen, you rise before I do. I’m a hard sleeper. But since we got married, I’m stirred each morning by the soft sound of a beautiful woman crossing the room. Even before I open my eyes, I can see you putting your hair up and preparing to seize the day. As my brain begins to come online, a silly grin tugs at one corner of my mouth. I am so lucky!
On your birthday, though, you get to sleep in. So it was our three kids who woke me up this morning — quietly, without waking Mommy. Just before I shot up to help them catch the bus, I glanced over and soaked in this rare and lovely picture. A true angel still sleeping in the morning’s half light.
I love you, Eileen. You’re the model of grace, patience (especially with me!), humility, diligence, and love that I aspire to be. You’re perfect for me and the best mother our children could have. You’re also real, imperfect, and growing. It’s the strength and consistency of your growth that most inspires me as I see you commit yourself to the Lord, the author and perfecter of your faith.
Happy birthday, mahal. Every new day with you is a gift.
Yours,
Phillip XO
