Vintage Record Cabinet Turned Coffee Shop Self-Serve Station
Happy Furniture Flip Friday! #furnitureflipfriday ⠀
This week we delivered our very first commissioned piece and it has such a special place in my heart! I convinced the owners of my coffeeshop to let me make them a new self-serve station that will totally fit the vibe of our shop. We are a super hip space that in addition to selling coffee, we are also a bar and host trivia and live music every week. Even our coffee shop name @ampedcoffeeco, has nods to music and coffee. And I knew a record player would make the perfect statement piece.⠀
⠀
It took me a few weeks to find just the right vintage record cabinet that fit our space and followed ADA regulations. This specific cabinet also allows our customers to enjoy seeing the record player and radio even while the top is covered with self-serve items. Customers love pulling the handles and finding the surprise inside. Plus it’s just so gosh darn pretty! And now I get to look at it every day when I'm at work.⠀
⠀
We found the cabinet on FB Marketplace for $70. I sent someone to pick it up for me. Had I gone in person, I would have tried to negotiate. It was in way worse shape than originally stated or pictured. Oh well. We put $60 of materials into it (paint, poly, handles, legs, and plexiglass for the top to protect it). We tried to cut the owners a deal, but they insisted on paying at least $300. So we made a $170 profit. And now I’m obsessed with record cabinets and will be on the lookout for good deals for future projects (especially players that still work, although those are much harder to come by).⠀
