My Hysterectomy Journey and Recovery
To say I was excited about my hysterectomy may be an understatement! In case you want to follow along, I’ve saved my hysterectomy journey and recovery as a highlight bubble on my page.
Hysterectomies are a common surgery, but there’s many reasons why a woman would need one. In my case, I had a fibroid the size of a grapefruit growing in my uterus causing extremely painful and long periods, back pain, and overall constant discomfort. Hysterectomies are also very emotional surgeries as it’s the end of the possibility of birthing any children in the future. And as someone who has never given birth to a child, but instead became a mom to 3 through adoption 7 years ago, that was a stark reality. That chance was never meant to be for us. But that’s okay! With 16, 17, and 18 year old children, I don’t even know what we’d do at this point if we got pregnant. So no, I was not sad to say goodbye to my uterus and my pain. Instead I’m looking forward to seeing what life feels like after I’ve recovered! And if you ever have questions about my hysterectomy or adoptions, I’m a pretty open book.
