Reclaiming Wonders
The image depicts a group of thirteen children, ranging in ages, dressed in costumes representing various historical figures or cultural attires. They are posing together, holding props such as swords, shields, masks, and pottery items. Some of the costumes appear to be inspired by ancient civilizations like Romans, Greeks, and Native Americans. The children have a sense of pride and accomplishment on their faces, suggesting they have just completed a performance or presentation related to their characters. The background features a scenic backdrop with arches and potted plants, creating a stage-like setting for their presentation.

Young Historical Figures Triumph in Presentations

13 rockstars. 13 brave kids who stood in front of a crowd and gave their memorized presentations. 13 kids who didn’t back down no matter how nervous they became or how much they forgot. 13 kids who should be proud of themselves! . Here’s to the moms who helped along the process as they researched and wrote and edited and practiced - the kids became their historical character all the way down to their costume. History and writing combine so well! . As the Essentials tutor, I’ve seen these kids grow so much this year, and their moms become ever more familiar with the process. Even though they debated last year if their kids were even ready for the class… They do hard things! . I always say go see the high schoolers and their Challenge classes. Thinking about it now though, go see these 4-6th graders too. It’s hard to see the big picture when you’re only figuring out kindergarten. . Kids can do so much if we just push them! Don’t rub your concerns off on them and don’t let your own fears keep the kids from soaring. ❤️
