Visiting Reindeer in the Scottish Highlands
“Reindeers are better than people.” 🎶🎵
Don’t YOU think that’s right? 😉🦌🎄
❗️Fun fact: Reindeer ankle tendons run over their heels to make a clicking noise. They told us that it’s how they can find each other over snowy distances.
The Christmas season has me thinking about the reindeer we got to visit in Scotland. Such an awesome experience.
High up in the Cairngorms near Aviemore, Scotland, you can hike up into the @cairngormsnationalpark mountains to see the herd of reindeer.
(Think central Scotland; like you’re doing a clockwise loop from Inverness to Edinburgh. That’s how we ended up there!)
The Cairngorm Reindeer were one of the highlights of our trip. And the beautiful surrounding mountains of Scotland had me wishing we had more time to spend in the area. We need to go back and do some hikes.
Before the hike, you get up close to some individual reindeer at the @cairngormreindeer office and learn their story. You can do this even if you aren’t going to hike up.
{Have I mentioned recently that I LOVE all thing Scottish? Where are my Jamie Fraser fans at?! 🙋♀️ 😉}
Go find you a majestic reindeer this holiday season.
And listen to them walk.
Then you can share nerd facts with your family too.
