Visiting Appomattox Court House National Historic Park

Heading to Virginia to for a fall vacation? 🍁🍂🚙 Appomattox Court House. 🇺🇸The final battle of the Civil War where Lee surrendered to Grant in 1865. (Special thank you to @classicalconversations for teaching me those facts 🤓) ❓Did you know Appomattox Court House is the name of the town? 👉It’s not the courthouse that was significant. It’s a confusing name-situation for sure. The surrender was actually signed at a local house. 🇺🇸Learn about and see the battle sights. 🪑Explore the old town store and jail. ✍️See the living room where the surrender was signed. 🤓Watch the video and see the artifacts. 📝Work on the Junior Ranger packet. Make sure you leave time to check out the excellent nearby American Civil War Museum for even more history learning. Did I mention it’s a free National Historic Park? Stop in for an hour. It doesn’t cost you anything! 👉Don’t just read history. 👉Go experience it! If you’re headed to Virginia or DC on your family road trip, check out my Virginia road trip itinerary on the blog. Or DM me and I’ll send ya the link. 😉 . . . . 📍Sept 2020. Family Virginia road trip (without Daddy!). . . . @appomattoxnps @acwmuseum
