Remembering Rosa Parks in Montgomery
Brave. That’s what I think of when I think of Rosa Parks.
Today, February 4th was her birthday. 🎉
My family got to know her through beautiful picture books. We met Rosa Parks in Montgomery as we stood with her on the corner where she boarded for that famous bus ride. We learned even more about her role in the Montgomery Bus Boycott at the museum around the corner.
There’s so much history to be seen during a visit to Montgomery, Alabama’s downtown.
🔹Civil Rights with Dr. King and the Bus Boycott.
🔹Alabama history timeline at the museum.
🔹The Capitol Building that served as the first Capitol of the Confederacy where Jefferson Davis was sworn in as president.
🔹The First White House of the Confederacy across the street.
👉Don’t just drive through on your road trips. Stop and see the places that need to be learned about. It means so much more than just reading words.
Only a few states celebrate Rosa Parks’ Birthday; several more celebrate on the day in December that she was arrested. 42 states choose to not have any day.
🌟At least we can choose to talk about her… and remember that just one little spark can set off a movement.
👉Check out my IG Guide with all the details about Montgomery’s must-sees on your road trip. I’d love to convince you to make a stop!
