Reflecting on Memorial Day with Family
Another Memorial Day and another day where I wish I had planned better... done something more to teach my kids to be more patriotic than their parents. Instead of scrambling for local events to see that we’re too late for any of them.

Yesterday, at the highest point in Georgia, the flag was at half mast at the visitor center, and we discussed it was for Memorial Day. That was about as memorial as we got, sadly... It was a beautiful hike and a good day together, but...

So here I say thank you to those who served and didn’t come home and to those families who sacrificed so much. I will try to do better!

Grilling and making ice cream may be what “most” do on this day, but let’s strive to be better and start with our own families. What do you do at home to inspire more love of country and veterans with your kids. I can read books and discuss, but I feel like there’s always more. What else can I (we) add?
