Prioritizing Hospitality over Appearances

Real talk about what we’re missing. Hospitality. 👋🏡🤝 It’s about the people entering your house. Not the house they’re entering. On the recent mission trip to Honduras, we showed up at people’s houses. Unexpected. Bus broke down… needed water. Switched transportation… needed bathroom. Carried food and gospel… needed a listening ear. They didn’t run around tidying. They didn’t ask for five minutes. They didn’t feel embarrassed by their mud-baked houses. They welcomed. ❓In contrast. How often do we choose to not welcome people because we think they care about my… Dusty baseboards Overgrown flowerbeds Messy bookshelves Mismatched furniture Nasty stove 👉May we be like those wonderful people in Honduras who taught us lessons we didn’t know we needed. ❤️ And don’t be that person who judges my mess. 😉 Accept my plastic restaurant cup full of water from the fridge… walk past my sink full of dishes, push aside the kid junk of the floor, and let’s chat… Friends, hold me accountable. 👉Let’s make messy okay. 👉And make people the priority. Share this with the friend you need to come over who loves you and your piles. ❤️ . . . . 📍Honduras with some of my favorite people playing soccer with the local kids… and (hopefully) remembering what’s really important. . . {Have I mentioned this week how important it is to travel? 😊} . . . .
