Inspiring WWII Biography: The Hiding Place
“We would hear the life-giving words passed back along the aisles in French, Polish, Russian, Czech, back into Dutch. They were little previews of heaven, these evenings beneath the lightbulb. I would think of Haarlem, each substantial church set behind its wrought-iron fence and its barrier of doctrine. And I would know again that in darkness God’s truth shines most clear.”

This book is the best I’ve read in so long.
.
I should have listened to all the recommendations to read her biography. Of all the WW2 books, this one should be at the top of everyone’s list.
.
Corrie ten Boom’s biography speaks more like a devotional - a story of her love for family, God, and spreading the gospel. Their perseverance throughout the Holocaust and concentration camps is such an encouragement for all of us. At the same time, it’s a beautifully written story that brings you into their life and makes you truly care about what happens to them.
.
I love that this is on my 8th grader’s reading this for Classical Conversations. That their books are beautifully written classics that speak Truth.

Put The Hiding Place on your list. Plan to buy it. Pull it out in dark times. It’s worth it.
