Hiking Amicalola Falls Trail: Tips and Perseverance

Embarrassing truth. I was almost an Amicalola Falls drop-out on our day trip up north. šŸ˜Š The hike started too far away because I parked badly, and we didnā€™t have unlimited time. I was tired way too quickly, and I worried we would run out of time for our evening plans. So I sent the kids and Dad up the stairs. Without me. I knew I was slowing them down. But I remembered who was waiting at the top. And that I would regret not going. And that I would feel like an out-of-shape giver-upper. So I rested and kept going. And my team smiled. They never doubted me. šŸ˜Š I need to hike the Amicalola State Park waterfall trail every week, and these embarrassing moments wouldnā€™t happen! Add Georgiaā€™s tallest waterfall to your North Georgia state park bucket list, butā€¦ šŸ‚Avoid the weekend crazy if you can! Parking spots are many but full quickly. šŸHike up to the Lodge, grab an ice cream snack as you rest, and look at the view. šŸ‚Park as close to the falls as you can find - or you add lots of extra hiking. šŸStart at the bottom of the trail and hike up. If you hike down at the beginning, youā€™re leaving the hard climb for the end. šŸ‚Prepare yourself for the 604 stairs! šŸLeave the dog at home. He doesnā€™t want to do these metal stairs. Why do people still do this? šŸ‚Think beyond and head for the Appalachian Trail starting point just a couple of miles up! šŸ‘‰Tell me your best push-through story. Gotta keep going for our little monsters. ā¤ļø šŸ“øAmicalola Falls State Park; Elijay, GA; Oct 2022
