Embracing Authenticity on Social Media

Authenticity. Let’s reclaim it. 🥳🤫😉 And surround ourselves with those who love your real-ness. I’ve heard it mentioned twice in the last two hours: by @sarahkorus and @macs_explore . Wisdom. 👏🏻 Things I don’t do. By me. (AKA “Let’s be real on IG because no one feels better while looking at your perfectly curated, filter-colored life.”) 1️⃣Stay quiet. I’m loud, and I didn’t used to be. I think it’s a result of four kids (and a husband) who don’t listen. And other people who aren’t doing what I think should be done. 😁I’m looking at this as a gift because people find me when they need someone loud. 2️⃣Keep my calm. (See above). If you’re disrespecting your friends or talking over the teacher or running around when you e been told to stop by someone more patient than me. I’m gonna call you out. Done. Nobody’s got time for that. 😁Others tell me thank you for doing what they didn’t want to have to do. I’m the mean one. 3️⃣Have a beautifully clean, organized home. Nope. As much as I would love bedrooms out of Pottery Barn, my kids just don’t care. And I have other things (plqces) that I’d rather spent money. So if my kids want to sleep with the ten-year-old blanket and bathe with beach towels, that’s what you’ll see. 4️⃣Stay focused well. Call it well-managed ADD or mom-brain. I don’t finish books or movies or projects. I start stuff and get bored and move on. I have a running list these days of things I realize I need to do while doing other stuff. Otherwise, I’ll start doing them and forget my initial task until 30 minutes later. 5️⃣Play the perfect homeschool mom. Is there such a thing? Tons of accounts would let you believe they have it all figured out… three years into homeschooling. Nope. Most days my kids handle their own education because I’m working on my own travel planning or errands or blog junk. It makes the time together more special… and I’m sure not wasting it on a worksheet. So thankful for my tribe! 👉Your turn. Tell me your deep dark secret.
