Educational Marine Ecology Tour
Learning and fun at their finest! On the way to the uninhabited natural island, we learned about barrier islands and watched dolphins - aided by their dolphin loving dog :) Lots of dog time for these dog loving kids.

On the way back, we got to examine crabs they had just pulled up and other specimens. Lots of questions were super patiently answered and many more will come up in the weeks to come I’m sure. We didn’t manage to see any sea turtles but were shown a nest on the island. And a bald eagle for the win.

Go see Barrier Island EcoTours... It’s worth your drive out of Charleston to take a boat ride to the barrier island and soak up all the knowledge of Two naturalists with evident passion for their job. Apart from the nature, I do so love showing the kids people loving what they do and how to be an awesome adult - especially if you get to take your dog to work everyday ;) Did I mention they even pulled the boat around to scoop trash out of the water?!

It’s trips like these that remind me why making animal excursions a priority is so important - the kids (and moms) soak it up! Our animal adventures are always the best part of our trip. The kids couldn’t pick a favorite part of those 2.5 hours.
