“One in every three black male babies born in this century is expected to be incarcerated.” Sit with that for a minute. Is that a gut punch to you as it was to me when I read that stat? “Just Mercy” reads like John Grisham. It’s a story. But it’s mixed with facts and real-life lawyer knowledge from a Black lawyer struggling to fight against injustice. I’m finishing this up before finding the movie.
