Reclaiming Wonders
A black leather steering wheel and gear shift lever are visible in the foreground, indicating the image is taken inside a vehicle. In the center, a person's hand is holding a book titled 'Just Mercy' by Bryan Stevenson. The book is subtitled 'A Story of Justice and Redemption' and is a New York Times bestseller. Through the car window, trees and foliage can be seen outside, suggesting the vehicle is parked in a natural setting.

Book Exposing Mass Incarceration

“One in every three black male babies born in this century is expected to be incarcerated.” Sit with that for a minute. Is that a gut punch to you as it was to me when I read that stat? “Just Mercy” reads like John Grisham. It’s a story. But it’s mixed with facts and real-life lawyer knowledge from a Black lawyer struggling to fight against injustice. I’m finishing this up before finding the movie. This book will make you question and make you wish you had remained ignorant at the same time. “The closer we get to mass incarceration and extreme levels of punishment, the more I believe it’s necessary to recognize that we all need mercy, we all need justice, and - perhaps - we all need some measure of unmerited grace.” 📕 Bryan Stevenson; Just Mercy, 2014
