šļø Location: Choose a spot at least 15 feet from tents and clear a 10-foot radius of debris.
š Materials: Gather dry sticks, logs, and tinder like dry leaves or paper.Ā
āŗļø Building: Arrange tinder and build a teepee or log cabin structure around it.Ā
šŖµ Lighting: Ignite with a match or lighter, adding larger logs as the fire grows.Ā
šŖ£ Supervision: Never leave the fire unattended; keep a bucket of water, sand, or dirt and a shovel nearby.
š¦ Extinguishing: Let the wood burn to ash if possible, then douse with water, starting from the edges and moving inward, stirring the ash with a shovel until all embers are out.
āØļø Site Check: After extinguishing, ensure ashes are cool; disperse them over a larger area away from the campsite.
š§¹ Clean Up: Remove any remaining sticks or debris from the fire ring area. Pack out all trash, including food wrappers and leftover firewood.
š„µ Safety Check: Double-check the entire campfire site for hot spots; confirm fire is fully out before leaving.
