🌱Nature is fun, inspiring, daunting, powerful and surprising, but more than anything, nature is healing.
I always think about how I would treat a little boy or girl who felt overwhelmed or stressed. Would I give them a multi-step morning routine and say - you’ll feel better soon!
Absolutely not. We’d slow down, go for a little walk, sit outside, touch the grass
How can you slow down for even a minute today?
*I am not a mental health professional! There are several exercises that do help the nervous system regulate (that my therapist and I work on) so there is some “doing”. This quote, from my perspective, is speaking to the practice of over-routined, self-help, personal development, “healthy lifestyle” advice that, at the end of the day, doesn’t soothe or help long-term nervous system regulation
