Understanding Constructive Criticism
Constructive criticism ≠ hate. -
There’s a misconception these days that all criticism is hate and if someone has something negative to say, then they’re a hater. It’s not true. Do haters and trolls exist? Absolutely! But it’s important to understand the difference. -
Haters are people who criticize just for the sake of criticizing. Their goal is to shame and bring you down. They will find any little thing to nitpick at and turn mountains into molehills. -
True friends and mentors will offer constructive criticism. Although the critique may be very similar to the haters critique, they approach it from a completely different angle. They say things like “hey this isn’t working, what if you try this instead?” Or “I know you can put more effort into that” or “you are better than what you’re showing.” -
Although on the surface these remarks may seem to be from a hater, if they are said from a place of love while encouraging and offering solutions, it’s the best kind of advice we can take. Constructive criticism is the spark that ignites change. -
Being able to accept and acknowledge criticism is one of the most important steps in maturing as a person. -
Be blessed and stay stoked 😎🤙 -
