The Right Way to Compare Yourself in Business
Ok hear me out š
I built my entire business (and still do) on comparison but itās not what you think.
Itās not about IF you compare yourself. Itās about WHAT you compare.
Comparing things like lifestyle and vanity metrics (likes, followers, etc) is useless. Itās at best a non factor and at worst debilitating.
But every great business in the world has a standard they compare against and that standard is their previous best effort and what it takes to win.
So instead of comparing useless stuff, you need to compare things that actually move the needle.
Strategy
Nuance
Messaging
And ultimately data
The only reason I know how to make videos that convert for myself and my clients is because Iāve personally made thousands and studied tens of thousands of videos, and have been able to break down the strategy.
And because I have such a large sample size, I can pick out the top 10% and replicate the success by tweaking small things.
But if I never studied great content (comparing my strategy to the top) and never looked at my previous successes and failures (comparing myself to my past self), then I would still be guessing.
Everything would be left up to luck and I would have no way of predicting a video would do well.
And letās be honest.
Would you rather hire someone who has tens of thousands of reps at getting better or someone who insists on living in a bubble because they canāt fathom that someone may know more than they do?

And itās the same for every other aspect of business.
Outreach, sales calls, team building, etc.
Because the only way to get better is to know what needs to be improved. And the more data you have to compare, the more informed your improvements will be and the faster youāll succeed.
