Part 2: Underwater Photography Settings

I’m stoked you guys like part 1 of the shooting underwater series so here’s part 2 where we go over the settings I use and what to look out for to get the best image! 1. Aperture - Keep it above 6.3 to get everything in focus. For split shots you may even want to go to an 11 or higher so you don’t miss focus! 2. Shutter speed - Water moves which means there’s potential for motion blur. Keep the shutter speed above 250 minimum (preferably more like 400) to avoid unwanted blur. 3. ISO - Like with other types of photography we want to keep this as low as possible. If you need more light you can always crank it but try to stay below 800. 4. White Balance - This is huge when it comes to colors as you will see tomorrow. Setting it to Auto usually works ok for me but definitely make sure that you are shooting in RAW so you can adjust it later! Stay tuned tomorrow for the finale where we cover editing tips and how to easily get amazing results! • • • • •
