Make It Till You Make It

Make it till you make it. - Im sure we’ve all heard the famous phrase, fake it till you make it, but why not take it a step further and actually make it. For the longest time I’ve been a proponent of the concept of fake it till you make it. In college I built a somewhat successful graphic design business from literally knowing nothing about illustrator to designing logos for minor league baseball teams. I never did a job for free but the first few I did for $5 because I had to learn somehow. It took some time but I’d always get the job first, figure out how to execute it after. - Recently I’ve realized it wasn’t faking it till I made it. It was actually making it till I make it. In that example, the more I designed logos (aka make stuff) the better I got, the more clients I had and the more I could charge. - The same has been true of pretty much every endeavor I embark on. The more I engage and make things the better I get at it and the more monetarily successful it becomes. - I think the problem these days is too many people are trying to fake it. They may see videos of other people doing it and the rewards, but they don’t actually have a desire to get better or even to put in the work to get to where that person they saw is. They would rather just pretend to be there. There’s a few problems with this but the most important is that it’s very easy to see through. - If you want long term success you have to have a passion to get better, and no although watching tutorials and planning is good, you actually have to do stuff. You have to make it till you make it. - Be blessed and stay stoked 😎🤙
