Freedom Found in Boundaries

Freedom is not the absence of boundaries. Freedom is the presence of structure so that life can be lived to the fullest. Societies definition of freedom has increasingly become that of do whatever you want, follow your heart, your truth is the truth, and a general sentiment of as long as it works for me I’m gonna do it. No boundaries whatsoever. As good as it sounds on paper, this thinking is unfortunately flawed in a few ways. Let’s take the example of creativity. If I tell you to draw me something, you would probably stall and stumble trying to figure out what to even draw. Your creative freedom is completely occupied by just figuring out what to draw. But if I tell you to draw me a picture of a pink elephant, the guidelines are set and your ability to be creative is exponential greater. You can pick any style as long as it’s within the guidelines. It’s the same with freedom of choice. Freedom to do whatever you want gives you the illusion of freedom but ultimately traps you in the consequences of your choices. You are a slave to the outcomes of your own doing. That’s why God gave us guidelines. Not to constrict us, but to give us freedom to fully live the life he has for us while avoiding the pitfalls of our own choices. True freedom is only found in the presence of boundaries. That’s why the Bible has commandments, and that’s why americas founding fathers wrote the constitution. Without a basic standard the people will perish. God wants you to thrive not just suck oxygen. He wants you to be extraordinary and not just occupy space. You have the choice to thrive, but you first have to submit yourself to God. Be blessed and stay stoked 😎🤙 • • • • •
