Evolution of a Photographer's Style
Improvement is usually slow and goes unnoticed, until you see where you came from. -
I decided the other day to try to recreate some of my most popular Hawaii photos just to see how my style has changed, and wow has it ever. The 2nd photo in the series is my most famous photo of all time. It has been shared by 15 1 million+ feature pages and garnered almost 2 million total likes since I posted it in 2018. It still gets featured to this day but I can’t help but feel a little self conscious about the edit. It was really good for me at the time but I’ve evolved and changed and I feel like it doesn’t reflect my style anymore. -
Looking back at that point in my career it’s so encouraging to see the progress. Not only in artistic style, but also in business and branding knowledge. Nash back then had no clue what he was doing. He was just having fun and shooting things and hoping he could make a living at it along the way. At one point I even had to get a job at a hotel to make ends meet. By the grace of God things have changed. -
Fast forward 3 years and I’ve worked with some of the most recognizable brands in the travel industry. I don’t say this to brag, I say this as an encouragement for anyone out there that has a dream. Small progress compounded over time will get you to where you want to be. Keep putting in the work, show up every day, and always be trying to one up yourself. -
Also a tay tuned to my stories today. I’m gonna be posting a reel about the journey of recreating this shot later today!
Be blessed and stay stoked 😎🤙 -
