Eternal Satisfaction Beyond Temporary Fixes
Mick Jagger once said “I can’t get no satisfaction.”
C.S. Lewis put it a little better: “if we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probably explanation is that we were made for another world.”
Jagger wasn’t completely wrong though. Eventually everything the world promotes, even at its best, just becomes a temporary fix to a life long problem. Sex outside of marriage becomes boring and unsatisfying, drugs become a burden, politics become corrupt, food lasts for about 6 hrs then you’re hungry again. Even marriages are temporary (that’s why we say till death do us part).
Nothing in this world lasts forever. You can’t take it with you when you go. But imagine the satisfaction, joy, peace you would have if you realized the answer to your temporary problems is actually eternal. And to not wait till you’re old and tired to realize that truth.
In America we take people to the cross but we don’t get them on the cross. We have them say “yes” to Jesus but never have them say “no” to sin. Jesus said “if anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, pick up his cross daily, and follow me. He also began his ministry by saying “repent and follow me”
Repent means to no longer put faith in the temporary fixes that don’t give satisfaction. To turn away from the sin that keeps you imprisoned.
Death is the great equalizer that none of can escape. There are two types of people in this world. Those who are dead IN sin and those that are dead TO sin. Jesus made it so that we could all have the latter and live life eternal with him. That’s why we celebrate today! He is risen 🙏🏼🙌🏼
Be blessed and stay stoked 😎🤙
