Challenging Societal Norms
The easiest way to gain mainstream acceptance of an idea is to make it seem like the most normal thing in the world. -
This can be good or bad but unfortunately we’ve seen it go off the deep end. Drug abuse, alcohol abuse, rampant sexual immorality etc. have not only become acceptable but also celebrated in movies, music, and culture. -
Have you ever actually examined the progression of the mainstream content that’s out there. A prime example is 80s hairbands. Many of them were some of the most delinquent hardcore people out there yet when you listen to their music, although the themes were questionable, they mostly approached it in a somewhat subtle way. These days we have songs like WAP hitting the top of the charts and being listed to by 8 year olds. -
The problem is, these media outlets rarely show the negative effects of living the lifestyle they promote removing yet another barrier of entry. -
If you want to change the culture you have to normalize things. There are plenty of people who feel the same way I do, but unfortunately their voices are drowned out so a “new normal” is being implemented. -
That’s honestly one of the things that drives me. I hate a lot of the values that culture promotes and I want to change it or at least bring to light another option. I hope others can be encouraged to stand up to it as well. We don’t have to be passive bystanders. We can change the paradigm.
Be blessed and stay stoked 😎🤙 -
