Avoiding the Entitlement Trap: Live Within Your Means
Millennials get a bad rap. And a lot of times for good reason. Although there is plenty of exceptions, as a whole I’ve found that we have a culture of entitlement. -
We think everyone should win, life has to be fair, we have to have what they have, and it’s suffocating. The amount of people going into debt to buy things or go on trips that they see other people doing is honestly a crisis and we have no one to blame but ourselves. -
I’ll be honest. There are PLENTY of Instagram “influencers” that are traveling or buying things with their daddy’s money. And I’m not going to hate, we would all love to have that situation, but at the same time, believing we are entitled to that situation and stretching ourselves to put on the persona of living that situation is detrimental to not only our finances, but our psyche. -
I have some of the most supportive parents ever, and one of the best things they’ve done for me is not give me money (with the exception of small gifts at Christmas and birthdays). I never had an allowance growing up. If I wanted to make money I had to figure out a way to get it either by mowing lawns or random side gigs. It’s taught me the value of earning and the rewards it brings. -
Let’s stop acting entitled, and trying to live beyond our means. No one owes you anything. You don’t deserve anything but the work and risk you put into it. What you put in you will get out. And for the love of all that’s good, let’s not go into debt for a stupid Instagram photo😉
Be blessed and stay stoked😎🤙 •
