Shoshone Falls History with HearHere App

last night I stayed near Shoshone Falls in ID. I’m road tripping back to Seattle and have been using the app “HearHere” to learn about the areas I’m passing through; their history, and how they came to be. Its one thing to stop and see the sights, but to get to understand the past, the culture, the turmoils etc of these wondrous places ads context to be able to witness them in present times with deeper appreciation. Do you use audio apps when you travel? I usually listen to audio books, podcasts or music, but this trip I wanted to learn about the areas. Have been fascinated to say the least. Our country is rich with history. Every small town has a story and was placed on the map for a reason. Check it out - “HearHere” for iPhone (ps this is not sponsored at all, just think it’s really cool). There are others like it as well if its not compatible with your phone. Shoshone History learned - known as the Niagara Falls of the west, its 212 ft tall, 45ft higher than Niagara, formed by the outburst flooding of Lake Bonneville during the Pleistocene ice age ~ 14,000 years ago. Its named after the Native tribe who inhabited the area, the Shoshone, and is a historical upper limit for fish migration on the Snake River (I want to raft this one day - who’s with me? 🛶)
