Essential Tips for Smooth Long-Term Travel Journeys

We’ve been on the road for 2 months so far and below are the factors that help our journeys go smoother the further we venture. Planning: as much as we’re spontaneous, it’s the planning that allows us to be prepared, know what’s around, and seize opportunities when they arise. Packing: Ensuring that you have the multi functional essentials to make you feel like home, durable enough to go the distance with you. Working remotely: part time at the minimum, makes us able to do this now, pre-retirement, vs waiting until the sunset of our lives to have the adventures of our dreams. Budgeting the trip plays a huge factor into long term travel Finally, realizing this is not a trip, but a journey that will take up much of your year and time (ours is 5-6 months). To be treated as a way of life, a lifestyle vs a vacation. Just like at home where we may eat out a few times a week, we mostly cook in, sharing and making beautiful meals together as a way to be creative, bond, nourish ourselves and build in ritual to our daily routines. On the road we love to fish and learn to whip up local dishes, shop at local supermarkets to learn more about how the locals live and what is customary for the locations we’re exploring. One tool that serves each of these functions and has allowed me to do everything from plan, to journal, to work, to cook, to play is my @heytrip_official folding camping table I use as an office desk, journaling station, cooktop etc, due it’s lightweight, height-adjustable qualities with an attachable storage compartment to keep the outdoors out when needed. Something so simple as a place to bring everything you need to make magic happen, to the table, makes a huge difference. Just like at home. Happy travels! I can’t wait to see what you bring to the table on your adventures. Check out @heytrip_official to bring a little peace of mind to the table on your next adventure journey.
