Easy Homemade Ice Cream Recipe for National Ice Cream Day

It's National Ice Cream Day! In 1984 Ronald Regan declared the third Sunday of July to be National Ice Cream Day! Celebrate by making ice cream at home with this recipe. This is such an easy one for kids to help out with!⁠ ⁠ Ingredients:⁠ 1 cup heavy whipping cream⁠ 2 tablespoons sugar⁠ 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract⁠ 3 cups ice⁠ 1/3 cup ice cream salt⁠ Quart size plastic zipper bag⁠ Gallon size plastic zipper bag⁠ ⁠ Instructions:⁠ In the quart size zipper bag, mix together the heavy whipping cream, sugar, and vanilla extract. Remove the excess air and zip closed.⁠ ⁠ Place the ice in the gallon size zipper bag and add the salt.⁠ ⁠ Put the small bag inside the large one and shake it, smushing and rolling the ingredients together, for 7-10 minutes.⁠ ⁠ Once the ice cream has hardened inside the small bag, scoop it into a bowl or cone and enjoy with your favorite toppings!
