Homemade Father's Day Doughnuts
Let's make and decorate doughnuts 🍩for Dad for Father's Day!⠀
⠀
Ingredients:⠀
-1 tube Pillsbury pizza dough (or use homemade dough)⠀
-Chocolate frosting or any other flavor your dad might enjoy⠀
-toppings – chopped nuts, sprinkles, toffee bits, coconut, and even chopped bacon⠀
-Oil to fry doughnuts⠀
⠀
Supplies:⠀
-Alphabet cookie cutters⠀
-Pan or fryer⠀
-Candy thermometer if using pan to fry doughnuts⠀
-Paper towels⠀
-Metal cooling rack⠀
-Parchment or wax paper lined baking sheet (for ease of clean up)⠀
⠀
Instructions:⠀
⠀
🍩Unroll pizza dough. Cut out “DAD” using cookie cutters, or whatever words or phrases you like. You could do “We Love Dad” or “#1 Dad” or “Daddy.” There are so many possibilities.⠀
⠀
🍩Remove all of the excess dough. You can keep that and fry it up for the kids to snack on.⠀
⠀
🍩Heat oil to 350 degrees and fry the doughnuts, flipping them over, until both sides are deep golden brown. Drain the doughnuts on a paper towel and allow them to cool, so that little hands can handle them easily.⠀
⠀
🍩Set the cooled doughnuts on a cooling rack set over a parchment or wax paper lined baking sheet.⠀
⠀
🍩Heat some chocolate frosting in the microwave for about 10 seconds just until it is thin enough to pour.⠀
⠀
🍩Have the kids either dip the doughnut in the frosting, or pour the frosting over the doughnut. Then immediately while the frosting is wet, have them sprinkle on some toppings.⠀
⠀
🍩Serve to Dad while fresh!⠀
