Cannes’ historic neighborhood, known as Le Suquet (the summit) was first set up by the Romans. The street layout has been the same for roughly 400 years, with the main Rue St. Antoine originally being the entry way into Cannes as it wound its way up to the castle walls.

Now, most tourists go for the charm of the old city, many great restaurants lining the narrow pedestrianized alleys, and to make their way up to the castle, which gives a great panoramic view of the sea and city below.
