The image captures an impressive and daring human tower or 'castell' formation, a traditional Catalan spectacle. A large crowd of people, dressed in blue and white outfits, is gathered at an outdoor event under a dramatic sky with streaks of clouds and a hint of sunset colors. In the center of the frame, a human tower stands tall, consisting of several levels of individuals carefully balanced on the shoulders of those below them. The tower reaches a remarkable height, with a child or small person perched at the very top, making this a breathtaking and precarious feat of strength, balance, and teamwork. The surrounding crowd appears to be watching in awe and support, likely cheering on the skilled participants in this age-old Catalan tradition.

Since I’ve had zero time to take photos in LA these days, enjoy this continued trip deep into my photo archives. •• You may be wondering what in the world is going on in this picture. This is an old Catalan tradition of building human towers, or “Castells”. •• These towers can reach up to ten stories high - just people standing on top of people. Teams known as colles compete to see who can construct and deconstruct the tallest tower without a fall. •• And really, any time you manage to avoid falling from 10 stories high, it’s a win of a day. . . . . .
