A picturesque stone church stands tall against the backdrop of majestic, rocky mountains. The church's architecture is a blend of traditional and rustic styles, featuring a bell tower with an arched opening adorned with a cross. The structure's façade is constructed from sturdy, weathered stone blocks, lending it a timeless and enduring presence. The church's terra-cotta tiled roof adds a warm, Mediterranean touch to the scene. Despite its modest size, the church exudes a sense of solidity and permanence, a testament to its enduring role as a spiritual sanctuary amidst the rugged natural surroundings. The image evokes a sense of serenity and reverence, inviting contemplation and reflection.

Continuing with the Greek theme (can you tell I am missing #Greece from my last few posts?), this is the church of the abandoned town of Varnaka, in western Greece (province: Αιτωλοακαρνανία - say it five times fast). •• Though a town may be abandoned, the church has to be preserved. You can still go inside this church, which still has candle stands, depictions of saints, etc. •• There’s something very strange about seeing a charming church in the middle of walls, ruins, and grazing cows. But nevertheless, here it is. . . . . . #igtravel #wanderlust #Greece #ελλαδα
