There’s a weird combination of freedom and nostalgia that afflicts third culture kids, or people who are a product of living in many different places. You miss everywhere and nowhere all at once.
You can enjoy wherever you find yourself while at the same time missing the people, culture, and places of the other homes you have or have had.
And at the same time, you also feel that you can pick up and go anywhere because…at the end of the day, it’s just one more place to miss.
In an increasingly globalizing world, more of us find ourselves untethered to a single place, caught between several different communities. Have you moved around? Have you grown up between cultures? What has that experience been like?
