This past year has given us all a LOT of time alone at home to think about our lives, ourselves, our future, our direction. It’s equal parts necessary, enlightening, and terrifying.
I’ve noticed a pattern of almost everyone I know (myself included) feeling they’re not exactly where they want to be yet. They wanted to have done more by now, be further along on their journey.
I do this all the time. Because most of us set up pretty lofty and great expectations for ourselves. Because a lot of us set big goals and when we start working towards them, realize that may not be what we wanted after all. But when you start beating yourself up, it’s important to look back and see the progress you’ve made. The steps you HAVE completed. The things you’ve accomplished.
I think back to this kid here and I know despite all my plans (which also changed a million times), I never expected to be where I am. And I’ve come a long way. And it’s up to me to keep working in the direction I’ve chosen.
