The small island of Malta has a lot of unique sights and experiences, but crossing the water on a traditional Maltese dgħajsa has to be one of the best.
If you want to visit the Three Cities situated across from the capital of Valletta, instead of making your way all around the bay, take this wooden boat from Valletta Harbor to Birgu.
The cost is only 2 Euros each way (10-12 minute distance), you can pretty much always find a few lined up and waiting (I never waited more than five minutes to grab one), and if you want a half hour tour of the whole harbor on them, it will run you eight Euros.
