One of the most underrated Greek islands, in my opinion: Syros. @discoversyros •• It’s main city Ermoupoli, the capital of the Aegean with a marked Venetian influence, is incredibly impressive. Unlike other islands, Syros is known not so much for its beaches (though I consider many of them pretty as well), but more for its beautiful, aristocratic old town, full of stunning neoclassical buildings and historic Orthodox and Catholic Churches dotting the hill. •• For me, it’s the island my grandmother is from, where I still have relatives I visit every year. I spent my childhood years exploring almost every alley in Ermoupoli, and I still play a game where I try to make my way down to the massive town square (seen here) following narrow island stairs and alleys, without once hitting an actual street. •• I am blessed to have family here and be able to return so frequently.
