A woman is seen from behind, walking down a narrow, winding alleyway in an old, picturesque town. The cobblestone street is lined with ancient stone walls, adorned with vibrant bougainvillea plants bursting with red and purple blooms. A small, wooden door with a bright turquoise frame is visible along one of the walls, adding a pop of color to the warm, earthy tones of the stone buildings. The alleyway is illuminated by natural light, casting a warm glow on the scene and creating a sense of tranquility and timelessness.

Very old cities and nature retreats have similar effects on us, I believe. The weight of history in one and the vastness of the natural world in the other manage to temporarily take us outside ourselves. •• It’s impossible to continue to be bogged down by petty concerns or small-minded thoughts when you sense, in a very real way, the tiny part of time and space you occupy in this life. •• It’s a wonderful way to free your mind. And I could walk down these ancient streets for hours. . . . . .
